Fun Recipes for Children

When my children were little, we used to do all kinds of fun activities like making forts in the family room or making play dough. Here are a few recipes you can put in your file to use when you want to make some memories.

Play Dough
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
2 1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cups water

Place all ingredients in heavy bottomed sauce pan and heat over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Divide into 4 parts and add 6-8 drops of food coloring.

Store in ziplock bags.

GAK - (from my friend Bonnie Miles)

A. Mix together:
2 cups school glue (4 small bottles)
1 1/2 cups warm water
Add color and smiles

B. Mix together:
1 tsp Borax (like 20 mule team Borax)
1/3 cup water

Slowly pour "A" mixture into "B" mixture and mix with you hands until it thickens.

It is weird stuff and fun to play with.

I'm going to see if Grant and Cole would like to make it with me after work today. I'll let you know how it goes tonight and tell you how the recipes faired. Maybe we'll even post some pictures. Happy memory making!

Momma! I didn't know you were a blogging genius. Now I can check out a site for everyone in the borup family (except for my ex-boyfriend Eli). I love you guys and I want to bring Felicity to meet you sometime soon!

Kim = thanks for the sweet comment! I'm so glad you found a chandelier you like. It looks like you have so much with your kids. My kid is turning 17!!! Good luck with the fixture - and thanks again for your very kind words.

Thanks for the fun recipes. I am excited to try them out soon. I hope you don't mind that I mentioned them on my blog. You'll probably have some more moms-with-little-kids visitors soon:)
