Back To School

I've decided to take a couple classes this semester at BYU because my life isn't busy enough. I've audited many classes since completing my BS but these are for actual credits and grade. It's scaring me to death but we all need to push ourselves once in a while right? I'm truly out of my comfort zone.

A Big Giveaway!

I do love a giveaway so when Tyler from CSN offered to sponsor a giveaway, I was thrilled. CSN has over a million quality items for sale on their website. You can even buy mattresses and have them shipped straight to your door with no additional shipping costs. Really... brand name mattresses. Go check it out.

I posted in April about my love clocks. I think they are functional as well as decorative. They can add to the ambiance to almost any room if you pick the right one.

How about the Kit Cat clock for $34.99? Haven't you always wanted on of these? (OK, not me but some of you might.)
How about a retro ball clock? It comes in different colors too.
How about Audrey Heburn on glass?
Or, what about the Bai Design Retro Modern Wall Clock in Orange? It's only $32.99.
This one is atomic and is a thermometer as well as a hygrometer. It's on sale for $65. What a steal. (OK, I also don't know what a hygrometer is. Does it measure humidity?)
This one has a clock on both sides and is made for outdoor use.
An the last sample is the Vassar oversized clock. Honestly there is something for everyone.

You now have the chance to pick a clock for up to a $75 value and have it shipped right to your door. (Shipping is free.) Really go to the website and pick from the many clocks under $75. If you win, you can have whatever you would like (again under $75).

All you have to do is:

1. Post a comment telling me which clock you would like to win. (Make sure I have a way of contacting you.)

2. For another two chances, post about it on your blog by cutting and pasting the section below and come back and tell me twice. (Fill free to cut and paste any of the clocks from CSN to add too.)

Kim at Charmed I'm Sure is having a clock giveaway sponsored by CSN who carries everything from clocks to mattresses. Stop by before 11:59 pm Mountain Time on August 28th and enter to win.

Just so you'll know...The winner will be picked by my random generator...meaning my husband picking a number between 1 and however many enter the contest. LOL
Oh, I'm so excited! I can't wait to catch up with old friends and perhaps meet some new ones. Good Luck.

Go over to see Julia at Hooked on Houses to see what others are hooked on.

I'm Way Behind on Posts...Women's Conference

Tiaras and wands...because everyone wants to be a princess. Aren't these cute?
I was going through my camera card and found these pictures I don't think I shared with you. Last May my sister came up for women's conference. They always have a huge service project as a part of women's conference. We picked making wands and tiara's/crowns. These were the "worker" bees modeling for us.

The things we were making were going to women's shelters, etc. I think any little girl would love to get these.

This is my sister Cheryl modeling. I wish she kept a blog. It would be so entertaining. She cracks me up. (She does the best imitation of the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz.)
Look at all these tutu's. There were mountains of them.
And...lots of tiny baby dolls.
Sorry... but here is a blurry closeup.
Here I am with my sister and her friend Vicki.
And here is the entire group.
We had so much fun eating, visiting, catching up on each others' lives, enjoying classes on parenting and other topics, giving service, having time away from the stresses of life, and attending the concert on campus. We've done this for years now.

Lagoon

Brett and I took the kids to the company Lagoon Day. We had so much fun. I only took a few pictures with the point and shoot but trust me it was fun.

We met up with my brother's family and took turns every once in awhile so we could ride an "adult" ride. Who know that cell phones were so strong. Mine even survived falling out of the fastest roller coaster I've ever been on and still is working. OK, it's a little beat up...more memories. I'll think about my adventure with my SIL every time I see those dents. She had it in her pocket so we could hook up with our hubbies after we got off.

Hiking the "Y"

Grant and Cole have been having all kinds of adventures with me. We hiked the "Y" on Friday. It is a steep hike but they did it! Here we are at the top of the "Y."
Here you can kind of see the "Y" in the background. And...no...this isn't a victory sign, it is a "Y." The day before, we spent the day at the "Veteran's" Pool. Cole and I rode the slides together over and over again. I've been getting a workout.

Last night was a sleepover in the treehouse.
I passed on sleeping in the treehouse. Candice and Eli and the two boys filled up the space. Darn...I had to sleep in my own bed.

We are enjoying all our grandchildren this summer. It has been so nice to be with all of them but one group at a time. We've had a whole summer of family. What could be more inportant?

A Great Surprise!

I received my Country Living Magazine in the mail this week...no biggie right? Well, as I was reading from front to back, I ran into this:
No...not the picture of the people...the photo frame. My daughter Stephanie designed these for Sycamore Street Press. Steph's friend Eva has a letter press and owns the company. How cool is that? It was such a great surprise.

Stephanie gave me some red ones for Christmas that I was going to put in my studio but I think I need to trade them for the turquoise to go in my guest room. I want to frame them in black frames and hang them from turquoise satin ribbon on the "door" hooks.

Halloween Decorations Are At Gate House!

Haven't heard from me in awhile? We are on a roll here with two funerals within a month, a flooded utility room (the water heater broke), a defunct computer, and lots of family visiting.

My husband has been using my computer to research water heaters, hybrids, and on demand units. What to do? We've had four bids and are so confused as to what we should do. Meanwhile the old water heater is working but leaking all over.

My husband's computer bit the dust too. When it rains, it pours. Oh well...on to something more uplifting...

I have been to the Gate House in Orem and they let me take lots of pictures to share with you. They have their Halloween decor up and it is going quickly. I couldn't resist a few things to add to my collection while I was at it. I hope you will enjoy them. (They actually put out a new shipment on Saturday so don't miss out.)

I'm not "into" skulls and the scarrier side of Halloween but some of you might be so I included pictures of that too.
Here is an idea you could incorporate in your decor. Get out an old trunk and add pirate treasure using any silver you have plus your own jewelry. I inherited a bunch of fake pearl necklaces from my grandmother that I can use.
Don't have a trunk? Just make up a small display.
A close up of the skeleton dishes...
and skeleton candle holders.
How about your own special chandelier with hanging spiders?
There are lots of Halloween figurines.

Halloween "tussy mussies"...
and my favorite Halloween figures. These are what I like to collect. I think they are irresistable. I think I love them because they remind me of trick-or-treating when I was little. We used to have a great time.

I especially loved the year my parents and their friends took us on a jeep ride, told us the story about the headless horseman. I remember being so scared when the headless horseman came galloping at us through the trees. It was so much fun.
