The Princess Party

Sorry you haven't heard from me in awhile. I was in Hawaii last week, entertained family on Monday, and jumped right in to catch up with work. So, instead of showing pictures of Hawaii, I'll post about our Young Women activity tonight.

The Beehives and MiaMaids decided to have a princess party for our young women activity tonight. They wanted to dress up, have dinner on real china, eat pasta, salad, bread sticks, have pie for dessert, and watch the DVD of Cinderella with Brandy as Cinderella. (We, the leaders, were hoping it was the old Cinderella we watched as kids.) Here are pictures of the table setting. Would you feel like a princess eating at this table? I hope so. It was fun.
We had to have two tables. I wish I had a bigger dining room table. I'm always in need. Well, while I'm wishing...some dining room chairs would be nice too. I hope my fairy godmother is listening...hint, hint. OK, I don't have a fairy godmother so I might just have to save up on my own. Rats.
the place setting. My china was purchased at a garage sale at Lake Tahoe. ($35 for a full set of 12 place settings, along with a platter and other pieces. Not my favorite but you can't beat the price.) The silverware we got as a Christmas present from my in-laws. (It's so nice to have matching silverware. After 32 years of marriage, we really needed some. Who knows where all those pieces disappear to? Maybe they run off to date the socks. They always seem to disappear too.)
I like to layer the centerpieces. That is why there is a cake plate and square glass vases upside down on the table.
Bows and Bunting.
I put a swag of fabric from corner to corner and through the chandelier. I just tack it up with clear thumbtacks right into the ceiling. You can't even tell there are any wholes when you take them down.
Lots of candles...you can't go wrong with candles.

That is Rachael on the end. I think that is the only picture I got of her. I'm posting this so the girls can see pictures of their activity.

Princess Claire. I thought I posted everyone's pictures but I seem to have ended up with just Claire's.
They had fun watching the Cinderella movie. This gives you at least a taste of the movie. We had pie that the girls made before the movie and rootbeer floats after the movie. They only have two more days of school so we were celebrating that too.

A Baby Shower

My young women from church planned a little, and I mean little, baby shower for their teacher. Here are our refreshments. (Candice look I corrected the picture for indoor lighting. Aren't you proud of me?)
I baked lots of cupcakes and my young women came early to decorate them. Didn't they do a good job? They were so tasty with cream cheese frosting. They even had enough to take home to show off their new skills with their families.

Cooking with the Young Women

This weekend was busy sewing Halloween garlands, which may be a waste of time judging by the non response I received from all of you who read my blog. I really would like to know what you think about them. My husband and I took better pictures (I hope) so I can post them on etsy. I'm even going to make a miniature garland to go over my fairy door.

I did watch a little of the BYU vs Wash. football game. What a nail biter. We came out on top in the end by one point. The win was bitter sweet since the officials called a celebration call against Washington after the last touchdown. Without that, it may have ended with a tie and then gone in to overtime. The cougars did play a better game in my opinion. We have some great players and what makes it even more fun is the fact that Eli played high school football with Luke Ashworth, Harvey Unga, Stephen Covey, Matt Reynolds, etc. They were state champions and Eli was the center. Stephen Covey was the quarter back. I think Stephen might be red shirting this year.

These pictures are a young women activity we had last week. We went to a little cooking school in American Fork. The pictures aren't very good but you can see that the girls are having a great time. The top picture is Megan and the instructor. This picture is of all the girls watching as the teacher talks about hygiene while cooking, pre measuring ingredients, and reading the recipe before you begin. We had six girls and three leaders attend.

Rachael and Bronte. I can tell by these pictures that Mrs. Van Waggonen didn't know what to think about these entertaining beehive girls. They kept me in stitches the whole night.
Here is my one and only Mia Maid that came to the activity. She is very quiet. We are now making cookies with the granola mixture.

Sara, Emily, and Bronte made up parfaits for everyone using the granola as one of the layers. Yummmm.
We even all received a cute little bag as well as a little booklet with the recipes.
Inside was a granola mixture and a wooden spoon. The name of the cooking school is "The Wooden Spoon.." Although I'm sure most of my family and friends who read the blog won't be interested so much in this post, my young women wanted to see their pictures. So, this is for my young women.
