Today was a Hard Day!

See our cute little dog? We had to put him to sleep today. It was so hard after having him for I think about 12 years. Santa rescued him from the pound as a puppy and gave him to Marissa for Christmas.

He was a great dog full of life until recently. He loved for you to throw his plastic bone and he would chase it and bring it right back to you...over and over and over again.

We are going to miss having him as a part of our family. (Thanks Candice for letting me lift these pictures from your blog. I just had to give Hobbes a little ode as a part of my grieving process. He really was a great dog.)

I can't believe that he is really gone. It will be so weird to be home without him there. We love you Hobbes.

Oh my goodness. Come visit me, I have a similar story about my mom's dog. In 39 years I've been fortunate enough NOT to have to put a pet down. Others did it for me. Mom and I have no one to do that anymore, but I'm so glad I went with her. Tonight I went to her house and told her I just felt like I had to ask her "where's Lacey". It's so hard. But having a pet is so rewarding, especially when you take the time to love them. I'm sorry for your loss, I bet he had a wonderful family in you guys!!

Oh Kim, I'm so sorry. We just did the same thing last Saturday with our 6 year old Airedale Terrier, Sallee. I'm still crying every time I come into the house as she is not here to great me. She went so fast. My heart is with you.

Oh Hobbes-even though I was not always nice to you, I really did think you were a great little doggie. You had stinky farts in the winter. You were relentless with the throwing the bone thing. But those are the kind of things good dogs do. Plus you were such a good friend to Marissa and the rest of the Borups and a friend of theirs is a friend of mine. Momma-please don't get mad at me for saying farts on your blog. I am sincerely sorry that Hobbes is gone and that you had a hard day.
